LA Hally Architect Renews A Beautiful Bauhaus Masterpiece

The timeless simplicity of Bauhaus architecture has held strong over the years, but individual houses themselves sometimes need a little improvement here and there. England's House in Hamble-le-Rice is one such house.

The property, part of the 1930's Crowsport Estate, was originally commissioned by Sir Thomas Lipton (of tea notoriety) and designed by architect Robert Cromie. After almost a century, the home had become run down after it went through a number of alterations that took away from the original Bauhaus style. That's why the owners hired LA Hally Architect to renovate the home, modernize it and add an extension.

While the team sought to modernize the home, they also sought to maintain the original style and beauty of the home. The home owners needed a larger kitchen and living room, so LA Hally Architect transformed the space into an open floor plan. They also added a music room, an office and and a rooftop terrace that provides an impressive view of the marina outside. The terrace incorporates glass railings in order to give the home a clean modern feel and to provide an unobstructed view.
